Who I am

Hello, I’m Ebony!

For over a decade, I chased the corporate dream, working for fashion and beauty brands such as Primark, JD Sports, Hunkemoller and Missguided. As an English Literature and Creative Writing graduate, my career began in content writing, which I adored, but quickly morphed into managerial roles in e-commerce and marketing.

I began to see a pattern forming. I would work at 110% for around eighteen months and then hit a wall of burnout. Coffee corner catch-ups and work trips would slowly erode my energy until there was nothing left. So I’d quit the job - thinking it was the role that wasn’t a good fit - then begin the cycle anew.

Getting diagnosed with autism in 2024 really brought home those patterns and gave a name to why I was perfectly capable on the outside, but floundering internally. Spoiler: it’s masking.

I decided to study part-time as a neuro-affirming coach/counsellor, initially as a hobby, aiming to challenge myself in a new project. It quickly became a passion of mine. As someone who had consistently felt like an outsider, to discover that I could be of help to my people has been such an affirming process.

Over a year later, and here we are. I have since completed my Y1 diploma in Coaching & Counselling from the internationally-recognised ACC in the Netherlands, a NRTO-certified and CRKBO-registered training programme.

When I’m not catching up with clients or writing about autism, mental health and sobriety on Substack, you can find me:

  • Singing to my cat, and occasionally open mic crowds

  • Watching Taskmaster, Last One Laughing or First Dates

  • Listening to the sad girl internet music of my teens, well into my 30s (thank you, unmasking)

  • Painting cat-themed greeting cards (have you guessed one of my special interests yet?)

  • Running around the local park in my autism-approved combo of sunglasses AND huge noise-cancelling headphones. No shame here
